Tropical Disturbances Today

Disturbance 1. Hurricane Milton is pulling away from the east coast of Florida but still with strong gusty winds and heavy rainfall. Milton is currently located about 75 miles ENE of Cape Canaveral moving ENE at 18 MPH with maximum sustained winds of 85 MPH. This general motion is expected to continue today, followed by a turn toward the east tonight.  On the forecast track, the center of Milton will continue to move away from Florida and pass to the north of the Bahamas today. Gradual weakening is expected, but Milton is forecast to become a powerful extratropical low tonight.

Disturbance 2. Hurricane Leslie is no threat to our area, located way out in the Atlantic, and not worth discussing. There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.

Disturbance 3. Eastern Tropical Atlantic: A tropical wave has now emerged off of the west coast of Africa. Environmental conditions appear marginal for limited development of this system while it moves westward or west-northwestward across the eastern tropical Atlantic and the Cabo Verde Islands on Friday.  By Saturday, upper-level winds are forecast to become less favorable, and further development is unlikely after that time.  Formation chance through 48 hours...low...20 percent and formation chance through 7 days...low...20 percent.
