STPSO Arrests Couple: Gun & Drugs Discovered in Repossessed Car

A New Orleans-area couple, 32-year-old Rashad Davalie and 32-year-old Charlesnisha Johnson, were arrested Wednesday (October 2, 2024) after drugs and a firearm were located in their repossessed vehicle that a Slidell based repossession company had repossessed on the morning of October 1, 2024.

Detectives with the Narcotics Unit obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and located more than 9 pounds of marijuana, 18 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, packaging materials for street level drug distribution and a semi-automatic handgun inside. A warrant was issued for the arrest of Davalie after it was learned he had made several attempts to retrieve his “personal belongings” from the vehicle after it arrived at the Slidell storage yard.

On Wednesday (October 2, 2024), detectives were at the storage yard following up on their investigation, when Davalie and Johnson showed up to retrieve their belongs from the car. Both Davalie and Johnson were taken into custody without incident.

A search of the vehicle the couple arrived in was conducted, and detectives discovered additional marijuana and seven Ecstasy pills containing methamphetamine.

As a result of the investigation, Davalie and Johnson were booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center.

“I want to thank the employees at the storage yard who contacted us when they observed something suspicious,” Sheriff Randy Smith said. “We appreciate the residents and business owners who work together with law enforcement to help keep St. Tammany safe.”
