William Horatio "Bill" Pounds, Jr.

William Horatio “Bill” Pounds, Jr., passed away at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington, LA on Thursday, October 17, 2024. He was born in Bogalusa, LA on April 4, 1953 to William H. and Dorothy King Pounds, Sr. Bill retired after over 20 years of service in the United States Navy. He was married to his wife Cecilia “Ciccy” Pounds for over 50 years. After his retirement from the Navy, he worked in the trucking industry driving for Dairy Farmers of America and Danny Lee’s Trucking.
Bill is survived by his wife Cecilia “Ciccy” Pounds of Franklinton, LA; a son William Pounds of San Antonio, TX; his daughter Mary Fairchild of Crystal Springs, MS; his brother Sydney Pounds of Bogalusa, LA; sisters Carolyn Pheffer of Paris, TX, Pat Jordan of Bogalusa, LA, Tammy Martin of Bogalusa, LA, and Darlene Miley of Pine, LA; grandchildren William Kohler Smallwood, Richard Edwin Smallwood II, Jillian Maria Smallwood, and Hunter Beaumont Pounds.
He is preceded in death by his parents William H. and Dorothy Pounds, Sr.; and his 4 brothers James, Charles Ray, Duane, and David Pounds.
A service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held Monday, October 21, 2024, at Poole Ritchie Funeral Home at 2:00 pm in the chapel. The family will receive friends and have visitation that morning from 10:00 am until the time for the service. Rev. Patrick Magee will officiate the service and the graveside service will follow with full military rites performed by Magic City American Legion Post #24 at Lee’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
