Henry Thaddeus Lirette, Sr.
December 20, 1927 - October 21, 2024
Henry Thaddeus Lirette, Sr., age 96 and a resident of the Pine Community, passed away Monday October 21, 2024 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was a native and longtime resident of Bayou Blue near Houma, Louisiana that had lived in Washington Parish for the last 34 years. Henry was a United States Army veteran, having served in the latter part of World War II and into the Korean War era. He worked as a butcher for a time before working construction jobs with McDermott International and later retiring after a 20 year career. Henry was an avid gardener, planting a huge vegetable garden each year and then sharing them all with family, neighbors and friends. He worked for many years at Kennedy’s Christmas Tree Farm, near his home, driving excited customers around the property on the tractor and trailer looking for the perfect tree. Henry was always a loving and caring husband and father who was honored to provide for the needs of his large family. He was an instant friend to all the people he met and left a lasting impression on so many.
Survived by: Wife of 70 years: Tina Falgoust Lirette of Pine; 2 Daughters and Sons in law: Darlene and Gerald Ledet, Audrey and Willie Stringer all of Pine; 2 Sons and a Daughter in law: Henry “Butch” Lirette, Jr. and Shirlene Jeanise of Schriever, LA, Fredrick J. “Ricky” Lirette of Dumas, AR; Grandchildren and Spouses: Blake and Dena Ledet, Michelle and Derek Quebedeaux, Chantelle and Kenny Ledet, Adam and Tiffany Ledet, John and Michele Stringer, Rebekah and Matthew Martens, Jennifer Ann and Curtis Cariveau, Holly Marie Lirette, Thomas Henry and Casey Lirette, Shannan and Brandon Center, Matthew and Hannah Center, Tabitha Marie Lirette; 24 Great-grandchildren; 5 Great-great-grandchildren; Sister in law and Brother in law: Brenda and Carlin Brunet; Brothers in law and a Sister in law: Carroll Falgoust, Michael and Hope Falgoust; Special Friend and Caregiver: Pat Harvey; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members
He was preceded in death by granddaughter Danielle Elizabeth Ledet, parents Fredrick Joseph Lirette and Bernice Bergeron Lirette, brothers Emile Lirette, Elwood Lirette, sisters Mayola Mylie, Doris Marcel, daughter in law Polly Lirette, father in law and mother in law Victor D. Falgoust and Odeila G. Falgoust and other family members.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home (1109 Bene Street, Franklinton) Thursday October 24th from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 3:00 pm Thursday with Deacon Steve Sykes and Rev. David Easterling officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine First Baptist Church Cemetery.
