Mandeville-area Man Arrested for Animal Cruelty (11 counts)

Antino McKendell, age 52 and of the Mandeville-area, was arrested Friday (October 4, 2024) morning on animal cruelty charges after eleven emaciated dogs were located at his residence.

A patrol deputy with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s 2nd District was at a neighboring residence on an unrelated call when he observed several dogs in very poor condition in the yard of a residence in the 27000 block of Jackson Street near Mandeville. The deputy relocated to that residence, and there he found eleven dogs, who all appeared to be severely emaciated, unfed and in very poor condition.

McKendell, the owner of those dogs, was arrested for 11 counts of Cruelty to Animals. A twelfth dog was also located at the residence. It appeared to be neglected but not in as severe condition as the others. Its owner was issued a citation for Cruelty to Animals.

All of the dogs were turned over to St. Tammany Parish Animal Control.
