Detectives with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Financial Crimes Division were called to investigate after a patrol deputy located suspicious items during a traffic stop earlier this month.
A criminal patrol deputy with STPSO's 4th District conducted a late-night traffic stop September 9, 2024 on a Mercedes near the intersection of Highway 59 and Longleaf Drive in the Covington-area.
While conducting the traffic stop, the deputy located several items indicating the occupants of the vehicle were involved in a fraudulent monetary instrument operation. Inside the vehicle, the deputy located banking cards from numerous different banks with several different names attached, medical insurance cards, food stamp cards, and several identification cards and driver’s licenses with different identities from different states. He also located items consistent with the manufacturing of those items, including a hard drive that was inside a foil-lined bag and a book containing a ledger of different identities.
The two occupants of the vehicle, 37 year-old Jansen Simon of Angie and 27 year-old Kameron Boudreaux of Houma were both arrested and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center for L.R.S. Monetary Instrument Abuse. Boudreaux was also arrested on outstanding warrants issued by Louisiana State Police and Pearl River County, Miss. Simon was currently on parole and has an extensive criminal history, including a previous arrest for bank fraud.
The patrol deputy turned over all of the information obtained during the traffic stop to STPSO Financial Crimes Detectives, and additional charges and arrests are possible.
