Two Arrested for Drugs During Hurricane Patrol

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office advised today (September 17, 2024) that two Ponchatoula residents were arrested on several drug charges following a traffic stop during Hurricane Francine’s pass through the area.

Tristan Cummings, age 28, was booked for Possession of Heroin and Methamphetamine as well as for traffic violations. Ashley Perrin, age 36, was booked for Possession with the Intent to distribute Heroin, Possession with the Intent to distribute Methamphetamines and Possession with the Intent to distribute Clonazepam which is a variant of Xanax.

In the early morning hours of last Wednesday, as the effects of Hurricane Francine were starting to be felt across south Louisiana, TPSO narcotics detectives assigned to patrol for the weather event conducted a traffic stop following several violations. Those detectives saw illegal items when talking with Cummings, the driver, which led to a search of the vehicle and its occupants. That search discovered meth and heroin on Cummings. Perrin was found to have meth, heroin and Clonazepam all hidden in underwear.

Sheriff Gerald Sticker wants to recognize our narcotics team for continuing their diligent work to rid the parish of dangerous drugs even while assisting with storm response.

***All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty***
