David Dwight Creel, Sr.

April 7, 1970 - September 4, 2024

David Dwight Creel, Sr., age 54 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away Wednesday September 4, 2024 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital after a brief illness. He worked as a mechanic for many years at Mack Grubbs Motors, Bill Hood Motors in Covington and also for Textron. More recently, David worked alongside his family driving a wrecker truck for Ray’s Towing, serving all of Washington Parish and nearby areas. He loved racing, even driving his own dirt track racecar for several years and was always a huge NASCAR fan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors, most especially taking his grandchildren along with him to the wroods and fishing spots. David had a special place in his heart for his pet Boston Terrier “Bear” and loved spending quality with all his family.

Survived by: 2 Sons and a Daughter in law: David Creel, Jr. and Faith Creel of Franklinton, Brandon Creel of the Thomas Community; Daughter: Gennepher Smith; Grandchildren: Arabelle Creel, Gabriel Creel, Annaleigh Creel, Delilah Creel, Coleman Creel, Kaleb Creel, Caston Creel, Cameron Creel, Camellia Creel, Tayllen Jarrell, Adailynn Jarrell, Corbin Esteve, Robbie Peterson; Parents: Rev. Charles Ray Creel, Sr. and Barbara Adams Creel of Franklinton; Brother: Charles Ray Creel, Jr.; Sister and Brother in law: Rhoda and Douglas Graves; Nieces and Nephews: Danica and Dustin Schmidt, Devin Creel, Britney and Paul Mounts, Eric and Jordan Creel, Chyanna Cleland, Kolton Graves; Special Friend: Vickie Crain; Also numerous aunts, uncles, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and other family members

Visitation will be held at Jesus Name Holiness Church Saturday September 7th beginning at 5:00 pm and continuing until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 pm Sunday with Rev. David Avalos and Rev. Charles Rester officiating. Burial will follow in the Adams Cemetery.
