Angelo Pepe

Mr. Angelo Pepe, age 96 and of Bogalusa, Louisiana, died on Saturday, September 14, 2024 in Our Lady of the Angels Hospital in Bogalusa.
Mr. Pepe was born February 27, 1928 in Bogalusa, Louisiana. He was a retired banker; parishioner of Annunciation Catholic Church; and a World War II United States Navy Veteran Corpsman, who volunteered to serve with the U.S. Marine Corps assigned to the China Marines stationed in Tientsin, China.
Mr. Pepe will also be remembered for his numerous civic causes throughout the Bogalusa community. Nearest and dearest to his heart were, the Sicilian tradition of The Saint Joeseph’s Altar, The Italian American Organization, The American Legion Post 24, where he patriotically honored deceased veterans by placing American Flags on their gravesites and attended funeral services throughout the state, coached and supported youth football for Annunciation and the Bogalusa Lumberjacks.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Jennie Giafaglione Pepe, both first generation Sicilian immigrants; his first wife, Anne Borden Bryant; his second wife, Maudine Spears Pepe; one daughter, Jenny Lynn Babinski; two brothers, Dr. John Pepe, Charles Pepe; three sisters, Mary Pepe Drouant, Lena Pepe Gonzales, Dora Pepe Hudson; and one stepdaughter, Sheila Atkinson.
Surviving family members include his son, Mark (Gwen) Pepe; one sister, Joyce Ann Laughlin; Joe Babinski (Lynn) five grandchildren, Aimee Babinski Hudddleston (Dan), Brittany Pepe, Aniella Babinski Stoiber (Nathan), Brad Pepe, Justin Schemer; six great grandchildren (Ella, Lily, Duke, Ace, Reagan, Devin); and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, including his late life friend & partner Flo Michler.
Graveside services will be held in Ponemah Cemetery (1136 Louisiana Avenue, Bogalusa, Louisiana, 70427) on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 11:00 am. Father Angel Diaz will officiate the service. The family will meet friends and have visitation after the service at the home of Ginny & Wilton Dunaway, 1327 Charwood Dr, Bogalusa, LA 70427. Military honors will be given by the American Legion, Magic City, Post 24, Bogalusa.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Annunciation Catholic Church or St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
