Following an investigation conducted by the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Division, 59 year-old Wesner Fonrose has been arrested for the Negligent Homicide of a 15 year-old female who was shot while sitting in the living room of the home. The incident occurred on the evening of July 16, 2024 at a residence in the Goodbee area.
It was determined that Fonrose had children in the home when he was manipulating a firearm with a round in the chamber, when the gun accidentally went off. The round travelled through the wall, and fatally struck the 15 year old female. Fonrose was arrested on August 1, 2024 and has been transported to the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Facility. Bond has been set at $20,000.00.
“This is a sad and tragic event and my thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Whenever a child is involved in a tragic accident, it affects the entire community.” Sheriff Smith said.
