Bogalusa Police Make Arrest After Disturbance, Vehicle Pursuit, and Foot Chase

On Tuesday, August 6, 2024, Bogalusa Police Department Officers responded to a call for service on the North side of Bogalusa in reference to a disturbance inside a moving vehicle and upon arrival, observed the vehicle in question which immediately fled at a high rate of speed. A short vehicle pursuit ensued with the driver subsequently fleeing on foot. Backup officers arrived and set up a perimeter eventually apprehending the suspect after a short foot chase.

An investigation was conducted resulting in the arrest of 38-year-old Jamil Darnell Clay. Clay was arrested and later booked into the Washington Parish Jail on the charges of Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Aggravated Flight From an Officer, Resisting an Officer, Convicted Felon in Possession of Firearm, Possession of CDS With Weapon Present, Possession With Intent to Distribute Schedule 1 Drugs, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Schedule V Drugs, Domestic Abuse Battery, Fugitive Other Jurisdiction, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Aggravated Assault With a Firearm, Aggravated Assault, Domestic Abuse/Child Endangerment, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of CDS With Weapon Present, Possession of Schedule II Drugs, and Drug Free Zone Violation of Uniform CDS. Bond was set at $350,000.00.

Officers seized 2.4 ounces of heroin, an amount of marijuana, an amount of suboxone strips, and a Glock .40 handgun.
