Betty Jean Nichols

July 7, 1956 - July 22, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Betty 'Bet' Nichols, who left us peacefully on July 22, 2024. 

Born on July 7, 1956, Betty's life was a testament to strength and love. Though she was known to many as 'Bet', she cherished being called Betty. Her presence was a source of comfort and her absence will leave an indelible void in the hearts of all who knew her.

She is survived by her beloved daughters, Taqona (Derrick) Sanders and Le’Ashia Fields both of Bogalusa, LA; sons, Keldrick Hayes of Bogalusa, La and belated, Stanley Nichols, Jr. of Bogalusa, LA; grand daughters, Derica & Diara Sanders Bogalusa, LA; nephew, Jonathan Fields, Jr. of Bogalusa, LA; great nephews, Kenan Fields & Michael Burton Bogalusa, LA; special cousins, Bennie Miller & Pamela Gibson of Bogalusa, LA. 

She proceeded in death by her mother, Pearlie Mae Gibson Hayes & father Rufus Benjamin Hayes, Sr. of Bogalusa, LA; two sisters, Gladys Nell Fields and Leslie Rochell Hayes; a brother, Rufus Benjamin Hayes, Jr. of Bogalusa, LA; a son, Stanley O’Neil Nichols, Jr. 

The legacy of Betty's spirit, passion, and love will live on through her, and those whose lives were touched by her.

Betty's life will be celebrated privately, in accordance with her wishes. May her soul rest in peace.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 12:00 Noon - 2:00PM followed by the funeral service at 2:00PM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Keith Sanders - Officiating. Interment - Ponemah Cemetery. 

Crain and Sons Funeral Home - Bogalusa are in charge of arrangements.
