Brenda Gail Hancock Bynum
September 17, 1943 - July 27, 2024
Brenda Gail Hancock Bynum, born on September 17, 1943, in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away peacefully after a short illness in Covington, Louisiana. Brenda spent her entire life in Bogalusa, Louisiana, graduating from Bogalusa High School. She pursued her passion for cosmetology at Southeaster State University School of Cosmetology in Hammond, Louisiana. She worked as a beautician and eventually owned her own business.
Brenda shared a beautiful life with her devoted husband of 62 years, Howard Bynum. Together, they built a family filled with love and cherished memories.
Brenda is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Jarrell of Bogalusa, Louisiana, and her son, Brett Bynum of Dillon, Colorado. Her legacy continues through her granddaughter, Dr. Kassidy Wall, and her husband, Tyler Wall of Springfield, Louisiana, along with their daughters, Madeline and Amelia Wall. She is also survived by her grandson, Austin Bynum of Covington, Louisiana. Brenda is lovingly remembered by her brother, Dr. Perry Hancock, and his wife, Tonya, of Monroe, Louisiana. Her memory will be cherished by numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends who were touched by her kindness and generosity.
Brenda loved her family dearly, caring for many of them for years, and loved her Lord with unwavering faith. She was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church before becoming a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Bogalusa, where she formed many lasting friendships.
Brenda was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Aubrey and Irene Hancock. Her family and friends will forever hold her in their hearts, remembering the love and joy she brought into their lives.
A celebration of Brenda's life will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home in Bogalusa. The wake will begin at 9:30 AM, with the service following at 11:00 AM. The interment will be at Hillview Memorial Garden in Bogalusa. Active pallbearers will be Darol Amack, Matt Hancock, Tyler Wall, Austin Bynum, Richard Creel, and Richard Kennedy. The honorary pallbearer will be Mr. Murphy Kennedy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home and Family Ministries in Monroe, Louisiana. www.lbch.org
