Vivian Cooper Smith

January 27, 1934 - July 20, 2024

Vivian Cooper Smith, age 90 and a resident of Mount Hermon, passed away Saturday afternoon July 20, 2024 at Fair City Health and Rehab. Alongside her husband and family, she operated a successful dairy farm for many years then later worked in the office of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development in Franklinton for several years. Vivian considered herself well-blessed by her many children and large family. They too consider themselves blessed to have such a wonderful mother for 90 good years. She was an excellent cook, especially her chicken pie and homemade biscuits. Anytime someone visited the house, they could not leave without enjoying a delicious biscuit and cup of coffee. Vivian enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends. She was forever a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

Survived by: Children and Spouses: Ralph E. and Ann Smith, Paul and Janice Smith, Janis and Steve Baxley, Faye and John Newman, Pam Stafford, Lenard and Shelia Smith, Kathy Smith; 10 Grandsons, 10 Granddaughters, their spouses and a large number of great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; 3 Sisters: Ruby Graves, Mildred Leathers, Patricia Shapiro; Brother and Sister in law: Walter and Barbara Cooper; Sisters in law: Edna Sprehe, Grace Roberts, Martha Miller; Special Friend: Ms. Bobbie Coyle; Also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins

She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph “Doc” Smith, daughter Vivian Joetta Stevens, son James Russell Smith, son in law Bob Stafford, daughter in law Kathryn Smith, grandchildren Benjamin Stevens, Hannah Wilson, Shannon Howell, Beth Guillot, several siblings and their spouses and brothers in law and sisters in law.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Tuesday July 23rd from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 12:00 pm Tuesday with Rev. Lenard Smith and Rev. John Mark Franklin officiating. Burial will follow in the Temple Baptist Church Cemetery.
