Leon Edward Curry, Jr.
June 19, 1954 - July 9, 2024
Leon Edward Curry, Jr., age 70 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away Tuesday afternoon July 9, 2024 after an automobile accident. He was a native of St. Charles, Missouri, born on June 19, 1954, but moved with his family to several states as a young man before settling in New Orleans. Leon was a resident of Washington Parish for the last 35 years. He worked for many years as a pipeline inspector in the oil-field industry and later had an asphalt paving business for several years before retiring. Leon had a passion for classic cars and loved watching the high-end car auctions on TV. He also enjoyed watching old western TV shows and going fishing. Leon loved his family very much and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survived by: Wife of 51 years: Bertha Duncan Curry; Daughter and Son in law: Tracy Oncale-Thomas and Sean Thomas; 3 Grandsons: Joshua Oncale, Zachary and Bailey Oncale, Britton Thomas; Very special great-granddaughter and great-grandson: Elaina Oncale and Jason Rupe; 3 Step-daughters: Donna Tanner, Elizabeth Chain, Susan and Bruce Reid; Step-son: Mark and Rowena Rupe; Also many other beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents Leon Curry, Sr. and Shirley Rickey Curry, a brother Rickey Curry, 2 step-sons Richard Rupe, John Rupe and other family members
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Sunday July 14th from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm. A memorial service for family and friends will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Sunday.
