Kenneth Lavon Martin, Sr.

May 24, 1963 - July 27, 2024

Kenneth Lavon Martin, Sr., age 61 and a resident of the Hackley Community, passed away Saturday night July 27, 2024 after a lengthy illness. He worked as an off-shore driller for several years before retiring from Pride International. Kenny later worked in construction for Ace Drywall for many years. He was always a hard worker to provide for and set good examples for his family and he was very talented with his hands to fix just about anything. Kenny served his community and country as a member of the Louisiana Army-National Guard, including traveling to Panama and Honduras. He always enjoyed taking vacations with his family and grandchildren, visiting Florida and the mountains many times. Kenny loved taking his grandchildren fishing. He was always a loving father, grandfather and brother that cherished all the fun times spent with his family.

Survived by: 4 Sons and Daughters in law: Kenneth Martin, Jr. and Angela Martin of Pine, Daniel and Megan Martin of Hackley, Gavin Martin, William Ernest “Will’ Martin; Daughter and Son in law: Angie Martin Thomas and Heath Thomas of Pine; Grandchildren: Ella Rose Martin, Mary Elizabeth Martin, Amelia Jane Martin, Braeden Arceneaux, Anna Arceneaux, Andrew Thomas, Alyssa Thomas, Daniel Martin, Jr., Hayden Grace Martin, Kyler Mack Martin; Also an expected great-grandchild Baby Arceneaux, that Kenny was very excited to meet; Special Friend and Mother of his children: Lorie Martin Brooks; Step-Mother: Dorothy C. Martin of Thomas; Brothers and a Sister in law: Ernest Leon Martin of Hackley, Virgil Claude and Jill Martin of Watson, LA; Sister and Brother in law: Sarah Jo and Mickey Thomas of Missouri; Also numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins

He was preceded in death by his father Ernest Evon Martin, mother Sarah Lorrell Magee Martin, brother Burton Dewayne Martin, sister Eva Nell McCain, grandparents Virgil and Louise Martin, Joel and Vanda Magee, nephews Randall Martin, Jeremy Gatewood and other family members.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Tuesday July 30th from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and after 9:00 am on Wednesday. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am Wednesday with Rev. Eric Williams officiating. Burial will follow J. Magee Family Cemetery.
