Lonnie Darnell Wilson

December 12, 1978 - May 28, 2024

Lonnie Darrnell Wilson was born on December 12, 1978 at Lallie Kemp Medical Hospital in Independence, LA to the late Shelia Wilson Hookfin and the late Lonnie Gene Morris. To this union five siblings was born; three sisters and two brothers. 

He was reared in a Christian home and was baptized at an early age under the leadership of the late Reverend John Thompson at the Sweet Home Baptist Church known as Cool’s Creek on Hwy 51 in Kentwood, La. He attended Sunday School, Church services and continued his membership under the leadership of Pastor Reverend Lee Allen Pounds, Jr. Lonnie was a respectable young man and a very generous person. When you were in his presence he would go above and beyond to lend a helping hand. 

Lonnie attended O.W. Dillon Elementary School and he graduated from Kentwood High School in 1997. After high school, he enrolled at Southwest Community College in Summitt, MS on a football scholarship until he was faced with an illness. Lonnie was a hard worker and held several jobs. He was a laborer at Save-A-Lot in Hammond, LA, B & D Salvage Store in Kentwood, LA and he hauled scrap irons that often cluttered the community.

Lonnie leaves to cherish his memories: (1)loving daughter, Lyneisha Cooper of Kentwood, LA; (2) sons, Jartavian Wilson of Kentwood, LA; and Cainan Darrell Williams of Tickfaw, LA; (2)sisters, Anitra (Braniff) Sibley of Kentwood, LA and Della (Andre) Hills of Lafayette, LA; (1)brother, Kendric (Kieona) Wilson; (4)aunts, Debra Morris, Vivian Morris, Antionette Pool all of Kentwood, LA and Alisa Morris of Tangipahoa, LA; (6) uncles, Wayne Wilson, Kentwood, Jimmy (Ava) Wilson, Leadville LA, Victor Joe (Clara) Morris of Slidell, LA, Robert Morris, Hammond, LA, Donnie (Karen) Morris of New Orleans, LA, Jerry (Mercedes) Morris Brunswick, GA and a great uncle, Reverend Lawarence (Margaret) Morris of Tangipahoa, LA; A special friend, Joyce Marie Cooper; a stepfather, Ivy Hookfin and a stepmother, Gertrude Morris a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Shelia Wilson Hookfin and father, Lonnie Morris; grandparents, Della Mae and Johnny Wilson, Martha Lee and J.C. Morris; one sister, Kylon Morris; a niece, Robin Sibley, a nephew, Germany Sibley and uncle, Billy Ray Morris.

Services will be on June 8, 2024 at Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church in Kentwood, Louisiana. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 1:00 PM.

Crain and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
