Jerry James Wells

January 2, 1949 - June 22, 2024

But they wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.  Isaiah 40:31

On January 02, 1949 Jerry was born to the late Mrs. Ordein Sibley Sartin Wells and the late Mr. Hoze Wells. On Saturday June 22, 2024, Mr. Jerry James Wells was granted his wings.

Jerry was a 1967 graduate of Central Memorial High School of Bogalusa. He later went on to further his education at Southern University A&M College and earned a Bachelor of Art degree in Marketing.

He ventured upon several different career paths through working at Chrysler Corporation and Crown Zellerback. Later, he managed “Duke Hats and Apparel for over a decade as well as a Club all were in Bogalusa. But, he was destined to work as a self-proprietor so he opened up “La J & R Boutique. This would honor him as one the first black owned-black men clothing stores in Bogalusa, La. Mr. Jerry Wells often taught these principles to his nieces and nephews unbeknownst to them thru ice cream.

As Jerry get his heavenly rest………he leaves to cherish: his loving and devoted wife Brealan, his daughters Sheri (Tyrone) Wells Bourdeaux, Nakia Bryant and son Alfonso Magee, a brother Roger Wells, a special nephew Steven Sartin as well as sister in-laws Emma Sibley, Tanya Sartin and Joann Wells; his nine grandchildren, one great granddaughter, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives near and far.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ordein and Hoze Wells, seven brothers Reverend Jacob (Annie) Sartin Jr., Joseph (Audrey) Sartin, Charles(Margaret) Sartin, Attie (Orastein) Sartin, James Sibley, Richard Wells, Lynnell Sartin and one sister Ora Lee Sartin Bickham (Willie), one sister in-law Mae Wells.

A funeral service will be Saturday June 29, 2024 at St. John Temple Church of God in Christ 1126 North Roosevelt Street Bogalusa, La 70427. Superintendent Eric Clayton, Pastor and Elder Arthur Mixon Officiating.
