Jewlean Dykes Hemphill

September 10, 1937 - June 24, 2024

Jewlean Dykes Hemphill born in Sontag, MS and a lifelong resident of Bogalusa, LA passed away at her residence on Monday evening surrounded by her family and friends that adored and loved her. She was born in Sontag, MS to Leonard Dykes and Maggie Boutwell Dykes. She was a longtime member of New Life United Pentecostal Church, Bogalusa, LA.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 68 years, James Lee Hemphill; daughter, Stefanie (Billy) Alford; son, Kevin (Cassandra) Hemphill; grandsons, Bradley Dale Taylor, Mason Aric Hemphill, and Marshall Aaron Hemphill; great grandchildren, Jaeda Marie Taylor, Chloe Ann Taylor, and Aden James Taylor; Special granddaughter and family friend, Leah Taylor; Special nephew. Allan Mohon. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, James Bradley Hemphill; parents, Leonard Dykes and Maggie Boutwell Dykes; sister, Lenora Mullins; brothers, Thomas Mohon and William Mohon.

A funeral service will be held at New Life United Pentecostal Church, 1600 Jefferson Street, Bogalusa, LA 70427 on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Wesley Quave and Rev. Jeremy Newman officiating.

A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday evening from 6 P.M. until 10 P.M. and again on Sunday morning from 9 A.M. until Service Time at 10 A.M.
