WPSO Sergeant John O'Hern Seriously Injured

A Message from the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office (May 24, 2024)

“We are reaching out to ask for your prayers and support for our own Sergeant John O'Hern. Late last night, while responding to a call south of Franklinton off of Highway 25, Sergeant O’Hern was hit head on by an impaired driver. He has sustained serious injuries, including a shattered pelvis, a dislocated femur, and various bumps, cuts, and bruises.

When Sergeant O’Hern was sworn in with the WPSO, he made it a top priority to arrest drunk drivers and keep our roads safe. His dedication to this cause makes this incident especially poignant.

We know the road to recovery will be long and challenging for Sergeant O’Hern, but we stand by him and support him fully. Please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
