Loranger Man Arrested for Attempted Murder of Mother

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office reports the arrest of 28 year-old Lance Joiner of Loranger in connection with the attempted murder of his mother. Sheriff Daniel Edwards says on Monday (May 13, 2024), deputies responded to a residence on Cory Road in Loranger after a victim called 911 saying she had been stabbed by her son.

According to the investigation, Joiner had been in a physical altercation with family members after they found him attempting to harm himself with a knife. During the altercation, Joiner stabbed his mother in the neck and hands. The victim was able to get away from Joiner while another family member fought for possession of the knife. After the knife was obtained and safely secured, Joiner was held down by one of the family members until the arrival of deputies.

His mother was treated for non life-threatening injuries. Joiner was also medically evaluated and upon release from the hospital was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail where he was charged with Attempted First Degree Murder.

At this time, detectives are still investigating the incident and further details will be made available once obtained.
