Percy Cliff Buddy" Manning, Jr.

July 22, 1939 - April 5, 2024

Percy Cliff "Buddy" Manning, Jr., age 84 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away Friday morning April 5, 2024 at his home. He was a 1957 graduate of Franklinton High School and then served his community and country in the Louisiana Army National Guard. He was a dairyman for several years operating Reedy Farms and he enjoyed riding horses, even performing in many rodeos. Mr. Buddy was always an entrepreneur, owning several different business ventures during the years. He started with Manning Construction and later owned and operated the Family Recreation Center in Franklinton for many years, the well-known skating rink that was enjoyed by so many growing up. He also owned Manning Enterprises, buying and selling tractors and other equipment, before retiring. Buddy was an avid outdoorsman that loved deer and squirrel hunting as well as fishing. He also enjoyed searching for arrowheads at all the rivers, creeks and fields throughout the area and he had a vast collection at his home. Buddy always loved going around town to different spots, drinking coffee and visiting with countless friends each day.

Survived by: 4 Sons and Daughters in law: Chad and Terri Manning, Dan and Chelsea Manning, Matthew and Kerri Manning all of Franklinton, Ben and Penny Manning of Winder, GA; Grandchildren and Spouses: Brandon and Ashley Manning, Kasey Manning, Danielle and Dennis Kline, Micki and Bruce Wootton, Elliott Simms, Emily Simms, Jacob Simms, Toby Manning, Dalton Manning, Trinity and Donovon Hunt, Colt and Ashley Manning, Blake and Mary Manning; Great-grandchildren: Nicole, Andrew, Henry, Emma, Lila, D.J., Kinsey, Waylon, Sawyer and two expected great-grandchildren Wrenly and Jackson; Sister: Betty Schilling of Franklinton; Brother in law and Sister in law: Adrian and Carolyn Reedy of Richardson, TX; Also numerous nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Florence Reedy Manning, parents Percy Cliff Manning, Sr. and Regina Gougenheim Manning and other family members.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Saturday April 13th from 8:00 am until 11:00 am. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am Saturday. Burial will follow in the Morris Cemetery.
