Message From the WPSO – About Our Farmers

"Dear Washington Parish, as we stride into the heart of farm season, our roads may be graced with the presence of mighty tractors and other agricultural machinery, painting a picturesque reminder of the dedication that fuels our farming communities.

To all those who travel our roads behind these indispensable machines, we humbly urge patience and understanding. Behind each wheel sits a farmer, driven by a commitment to provide for their families and nourish our communities.

In the timeless words of Paul Harvey, "So, God made a farmer! God said I need somebody to get up before dawn and milk cows and work all day in the fields, milk cows again, eat supper and then go to town and stay past midnight at a meeting of the school board. So, God made a farmer! I need somebody with strong arms." These words echo the resilience, strength, and tireless spirit of those who labor tirelessly to sow the seeds of abundance.

To our farmers, we offer a heartfelt thank you. Thank you for your sweat-soaked days and calloused hands. Thank you for braving the elements and overcoming challenges with unending resolve. Your labor sustains us all, nourishing not just our bodies, but our souls with the fruits of your labor.

Let us all extend a hand of gratitude and support to these unsung heroes of our communities. May their fields yield bountiful harvests, and may their spirits remain ever resilient."
