Tips (Once Again) Lead to Arrest of Abita Springs Area Man and Large Amount of Illegal Drugs

An Abita Springs-area man, 28 year-old Allen Tate, Jr., has been arrested after tips from the community
led members of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division to his Hillcrest-area residence, where a large amount of illegal narcotics was located.

Wednesday (March 6, 2024) morning, detectives with the STPSO Narcotics Division conducted an investigation in the Hillcrest neighborhood of Abita Springs after residents called in tips of suspected drug activity at a residence in the 73000 block of Eagle Street. The investigation led to detectives making contact with Allen Tate, Jr.

During the investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant for Tate’s residence and located and seized approximately 10.6 grams of suspected cocaine, approximately 11.2 grams of suspected Ketamine, approximately 24 dosage units of suspected LSD, approximately 562.4 grams of suspected marijuana, approximately 67.1 grams of suspected psilocybin mushrooms, approximately 205 dosage units of suspected Xanax, approximately 102.5 dosage units of suspected Adderall, approximately 81 dosage units of suspected THC vapes, approximately 402 grams of suspected THC wax, approximately 294.6 grams of suspected Codeine, approximately 3.52 ounces of suspected psilocybin mushrooms edibles, an assortment of drug paraphernalia indicative of narcotics sales and $10,355 in cash.

A 2016 Dodge Challenger Hellcat, which is suspected to have been purchased with proceeds from illegal drug sales, was also seized.

As a result of these discoveries, Tate was arrested and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center on the charges of Possession with the Intent to Distribute Schedule II CDS (cocaine), Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Schedule II CDS (ketamine), Possession with the Intent to Distribute Schedule I CDS (LSD), 3 counts of  Possession with the Intent to Distribute Schedule I CDS (marijuana), 2 counts of  Possession with the Intent to Distribute Schedule I CDS (psilocybin Mushrooms), Possession Possession with the Intent to Distribute Schedule IV CDS (Xanax), Possession with the Intent to Distribute Schedule II CDS (amphetamine/Adderall), Possession with the Intent to Distribute Schedule II CDS (codeine), Transactions Involving Proceeds from Drug Offenses, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 

“Keeping illegal drugs out of our neighborhoods is a cooperative effort between law enforcement and our residents,” Sheriff Randy Smith said. “I thank the residents who contacted us to make us aware of Mr. Tate’s drug activity and encourage others who notice suspicious behavior in their neighborhoods to do the same.”

Sheriff Smith is asking anyone with information about narcotics, or other crimes, to submit a tip utilizing the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office website (www.STPSO.com), or by calling the narcotics tip line (1-888-GO-2-JAIL).
