Barbara Louella Smith

July 21, 1942 - March 7, 2024

Barbara “Mawmaw B” L. Smith was a caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She left this world peacefully in her home in Bogalusa on March 7, 2024 at the age of 81.

She was an amazing mother to Marilyn Knight (Willis), Carla Holifield, Tommy Stewart (Terri), Wanda Penny (Matthew) and Amanda Woodward. Barbara is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Barbara is also survived by sisters Ozie Bodner and Freddia Miller as well as several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Barbara in death are her parents, John T and Agnes Blackwell as well as brothers Jerry Dale, Edwin and Freddie Blackwell and sisters Allie Mae Branton and Joyce Brock.

Her beautiful memory will always live on. Her nursing career had a huge impact on the community as well as her family. She never said no and in time of need you knew she could be counted on. In her active years, if she wasn’t working, you could find her in her garden or in front of the sewing machine. She was a tough cookie with a tender heart and will be missed.

Visitation will be Monday, March 11, 2024 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. with service starting at 2 p.m. Burial to follow at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church
