Obituary

Steve Lavon Owens, Sr.

January 3, 1951 - February 27, 2024

Steve Lavon Owens Sr., a resident of Angie, Louisiana, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 27th, 2024.  He was 73 years old.  He was a member of Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church.  He was a retiree of International Paper after 43 years.  Steve enjoyed tending to his garden where he was always growing “taters”, corn, “maters” and other vegetables, tending to his chickens, horses, and goats, as well as watching Fox News Channel.  He never missed a chance to finesse his favorite fly bug around any and every cyprus knee, in the hopes of snagging that big bull bream.

He is preceded in death by his father, Willie Lavon Owens, his grandsons, Colton and Trevor Owens, and his mother and father in-laws, Robert and Dorthy Moore.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patsy Owens, his mother Artimeze Miley, his son Steve Owens Jr. and wife Margot Owens, his son Brent Owens and wife Pamela Vance; his grandchildren Savannah (Brennan) Barrack, Hunter (Katie) Owens, Hayden Owens, McKenzie Owens, Heather Wiggins, Macy Johnston, Dakota Cobb, Kaitlin Porter, Logan Amacker; his great-grandchildren Eden Barrack, Bentley Owens, Aiden Owens, Liam Owens, and Eli Owens; his brothers Rodney Miley, Keith Easterling, Rickey Easterling, RD Owens, Hartford Owens, and sister Pam Bowers; and his honorary grandchild Jaccob Graves.

The family would like to say a special thanks to Pulse Home Health and St. Tammany Parish Hospital employees, especially Nurse Greg Arlt.

A service to celebrate Steve’s life will be held at Poole Ritchie Funeral Home on Thursday, February 29, 2024 with the visitation starting at 11:00 am and will remain open until the funeral service at 2:00 pm in the chapel.  Rev. Duane Ball will officiate the service and interment will follow at Seal Cemetery in Varnado, LA.
