Larry D. Knight

February 2, 1946 - February 28, 2024

Larry D. Knight, age 78 and a resident of Pine, passed away early Wednesday morning February 28, 2024 at his home following a lengthy illness. He was a 1964 graduate of Franklinton High School, where he played on the Demons basketball team, and then later attended LSU. Larry returned home and operated Knight’s Dairy Farm for 31 years. He always loved farming his land and doing tractor work around his property. Larry served for several years on the Board of Gulf Dairy Farms, Inc. and he continued to raise beef cattle even after leaving the dairy industry. He was longtime member of Pine First Baptist Church and he loved to watch sports on TV.

Survived by: Wife of 58 years: Verdie Mae Rogers Knight of Pine; Brother and Sister in law: Virgil E. “Vic” Knight, Jr. and Angel Knight of Lake Lure, NC; Sisters and Brothers in law: Carol McCue and John Perkins of Springfield, IL, Jeanie and George Brumfield of Cleveland, MS; Brother in law: James Rogers of Pine; Sister in law: Kathy Humphrey Knight of Pine; Also numerous beloved nieces, nephews and their families

He was preceded in death by his parents Virgil E. Knight, Sr. and Bertha Tynes Knight, brother James Irby Knight, young brother Virgil “Oakie” Knight, Jr., father in law and mother in law George and Viola Rogers, sister in law Nadine Rogers, sisters in law and brothers in law Ruthie Mae and Homer Graves, Nellie Ruth and William “Bill” Jenkins.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Saturday March 2nd from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 3:00 pm Saturday with Rev. Joey Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine First Baptist Church Cemetery.
