Kentwood Resident Arrested for Failure to Register as Sex Offender

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office announces the arrest of 49 year-old Jacob Williams of Kentwood for failure to register as a sex offender. Sheriff Daniel Edwards says Williams is a convicted sex offender who was previously registered in Allen Parish. Since the middle of January, Williams had moved residency to Tangipahoa Parish but had not notified the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office as required by law.

As detectives began their search for Williams, deputies were called to a residence on Hwy 1054 in Kentwood regarding a verbal altercation. Upon arrival, deputies located Williams who was taken into custody and booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail. Williams was charged with (1) count Failure to Register as a Sex Offender and (1) count Violation of a Protective Order.

***All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty***

Any person who is a convicted sex offender through the State of Louisiana is required to register with the chief law enforcement agency in the Parish they reside. Failure to do so can place the individual into non-compliance status which can lead to their arrest.
