Obituary

Jamal Maye, Jr.

July 8, 2014 - January 7, 2024

We all loved you but God loved you best.

Jamal (Jun Jun) Maye, Jr. was born July 8, 2014 in Bogalusa, Louisiana to his parents Jamal Maye Sr. and Brianna Temple Maye. He went home to be with the angels on January 7, 2024 at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana.

We are here to remember Jun Jun. There were things Jun Jun couldn’t do. He couldn’t walk. He couldn’t talk. He couldn’t do many things other people take for granted every day. But that’s not what we saw and that’s not who he was.

Jun Jun’s mother and father looked at him and saw many things he could do. He could smile. He could laugh. He could feel the happiness. He could love without condition. He could show his love without ever saying a word. Not everyone has those abilities.

Jun Jun taught us how to be happy because he took joy in seeing his family, joy in singing to him a song, and joy in his family talking to him. He was an inspiration to his family.

He taught us how to love unconditionally, to be kind and patient because it took a lot of patience and dedication to care for his needs. Jun Jun taught us how to love without words, without limits and without reasons.

And finally, Jun Jun gave us the gift that life isn’t easy. There were a lot of hard times for him and his parents’ but he taught us that we can see past the difficulties and find that strength because Jun Jun was strong until the end.

He leaves to cherish his memories his parents, Jamal Maye, Sr. and Brianna Temple Maye of Bogalusa, LA: his siblings who cherished him so much three sisters, Syrai Temple, Saniya Maye and a newborn baby sister, Sienna Maye, whom he had a chance to meet before his homegoing; a brother, Roman Maye; Grandparents, Robert and Patricia Temple of Angie, LA., Inga Foster of Houston, TX John Morris III of Angie, LA, and Great-grandmothers, Dorothy Maye and Clementine Morris Galloway. Uncles, John “JD” Foster and John’Neilius “Red” Foster of Houston, TX; Robert (Tonisha) Temple Jr., Patrick (Amanda) Temple of San Antonio, TX., Rush (Maranda) Temple of Arkansas, Russell Temple of Bogalusa and Ralston (Enjenee’) Temple of Houston, TX. Aunts, Chiketa (Edward) Morris of New Orleans, LA, Tia Weary of Texas and Jonirah Polion of Picayune, MS; Special Uncles, Bryant Maye and Jordan Maye Sr.; Special cousins, Dasha Temple, Desha Temple and James Williams Jr. and a host of other aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him.
