Edward Dale Jenkins

July 31, 1953 - January 16, 2024

Edward Dale Jenkins, age 70 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away Tuesday morning January 16, 2024 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. Dale was born on July 31, 1953 and was a longtime active member of Bethel Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and taught an adult Sunday School Class. He had a very long career as a truck driver for different companies through the years. Dale, who had the CB handle “Doc”, hauled gravel, livestock feed and grain on local routes and even drove a tanker truck cross-country for a time. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and watching Old Western movies and TV shows. Dale loved his family and spending quality time with his grandchildren. He also had a special place in his heart for his pet dogs. He was always hard-working and a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and brother.

Survived by: Wife of 50 years: Gloria Burch Jenkins of Franklinton; Son and Daughter in law: Christopher Dale and April Jenkins of Anchorage, Alaska; Daughter: Kimberly Jenkins of Franklinton; Grandchildren: Ryan Jenkins, Hailey Jenkins, Tyler Jenkins, Ayla Leng; Brother: Jimmy Jenkins of Franklinton; Sister: Linda Barber of Franklinton; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members

He was preceded in death by his parents Edgar Jenkins and Margie Spears Jenkins, brother Buddy Jenkins, sister Shirley Jenkins, an infant brother Bruce Jenkins and other family members.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Saturday January 20th from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Saturday with Rev. Rick Cook officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
