Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards reported earlier this morning (January 15, 2024) that at 4:03 this morning, an inmate identified as 39 year-old Channing Garrett (black male) escaped custody. Detectives say Garrett left the jail wearing all white with black shoes.
Garrett was originally incarcerated for a judge's hold relating to the violation of a protective order. He was also serving time for various white collar crimes including forgery and injuring public records.
At 8:05 this morning, TPSO reported that Garrett was back in custody.
