Bogalusa Police Arrest Parents of 2 Month-Old For Attempted Murder

On January 14, 2024, The Bogalusa Police Department began investigating a case in which a 2 month-old infant sustained life threatening injuries. The preliminary investigation revealed that the injuries caused were intentional.

The infant was flown to Children's Hospital in New Orleans where it was discovered that the infant also had old injuries which were classified as severe, and that they were already in the healing process. These injuries also were indicative of physical abuse. After treatment, the infant was released into the custody of the Department of Children and Family Services, with a prognosis of potential long-term effects.

Despite the parents claiming that they were unsure how the infant received the old and new severe injuries, Detectives were able to determine that only the mother and father were in the residence at the time the injuries occurred.

On Tuesday, January 23, 2024, the mother, 24 year-old Alexis Bolton, and the father, 30 year-old Andrew Scott, were both arrested and charged with Attempted First Degree Murder, due to the age of the child and the severity of the injuries, as well as Cruelty to Juveniles and Domestic Abuse Battery.

The investigation also revealed that Bolton has additional children, one of which is  3 years of age, who also previously sustained injuries consistent with physical abuse while residing with Bolton and Scott. Both were charged appropriately in regards to this case of abuse also.

This investigation is ongoing and future details may be released at a later time.
