Wednesday (December 27, 2023) night, shortly before 11:00 p.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L began investigating a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 near the Mississippi state line in St. Tammany Parish. The crash claimed the life of 46-year-old Gary Clark Jr. of Abita Springs.
The initial investigation revealed the crash occurred as Clark Jr. was westbound in the left lane of I-10 east in a 2019 Ram 1500. At the same time, a 2014 Volvo VNL was eastbound in the left lane of Interstate 10 east. The Ram impacted the Volvo head-on.
Clark Jr.’s restraint use is unknown, he sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash, and was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver of the Volvo was properly restrained, sustained minor injuries, and was transported to a local hospital.
