Obituary

Forace James

January 28, 1946 - December 14, 2023

“In my father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”   John 14:2-3

Forace James was born January 28, 1946, to the late Nathaniel James and Estella Magee in Mount Hermon, Louisiana. Late Thursday night of December 14, 2023, God called one of his servants to his heavenly home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel James and Estella Magee; five sisters, Alicia Magee, Polly James, Madeline Brumfield, Audrey Weary, and Lattie Mae Sandifer; and five brothers, Slade James, Curtis James, Tommy James, Walter James, and Bobby James Sr.

Forace James was baptized at an early age at Little Union Missionary Baptist Church in Mount Hermon, Louisiana. After graduation from Vernon High School of 1966, he moved to New Orleans, LA, married his beloved wife of 53 years, Kathleen Brumfield, and worked various jobs (as a truck driver, specialty delivery driver at the U.S. Customs, and a construction operator at several companies to provide for his family. Later, he made a selfless decision to move back to Mount Hermon to raise his children, begin his farming career, and attend his home church where he served as a Deacon, Treasurer, and Sunday School Teacher. Even when his health began to fail, he never stopped witnessing on the goodness of Jesus, teaching and directing others on life principles, and doing what needed to be done at home, church, and around the community.

Forace had a special love for animals, which made farming effortless. He enjoyed tending to his cattle and swine; going to animal auctions (mostly referred to as the sale barn); playing with his dogs; and driving around in his farm truck to his favorite hangout places to see family and friends. When you saw Forace James, he always had a sweet smile, words of wisdom and encouragement, and extended a helping hand that touched so many lives. He was a true fighter at heart as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, nephew, etc.
