Charles Ray Robinson
February 13, 1943 - December 16, 2023
Charles Ray was born February 13,1943 to Andrew (A.C.) and Gladys Smith Robertson in Bogalusa, LA. Charles was raised in Louisiana, He attended Bogalusa City School System. He was a member of the Deacons of defense, where they protected the leaders of the civil rights movement. He then joined the United States Army in 1968. Charles toured many cities and states of the United States and other countries, as well as defending his country in Vietnam. Charles was stationed in FT. Sill, OK where he met his wife, Wonda.
Charles made Duncan his home. He and his wife joined ST. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Willie H. Irvin. Charles was a dedicated and devoted member who held numerous positions in the church. He was entrusted with the role of Sunday School teacher, Deacon, and trustee of the church. He was a member of the Choir, The Outreach Ministry, as well as the Brotherhood.
Charles loved to fish, spend time with his family and friends, and learning what he could about the Word of God.
On Saturday December 16, 2023, Charles Ray gained his Heavenly wings and transitioned to be with the Lord. To know Charles Ray Robertson was to love him, he was so full of life and could hold a conversation with about anyone spreading the word of God.
He was preceded in death by is beloved wife, Wonder Robertson; four children, Charles Raynard Robertson, Danielle Robertson, Robyn, and D’Andera Newberry; both his parents, Andrew (A.C.) and Gladys Smith Robertson; one brother, Rodney Robertson.
Precious memories will be cherished by his siblings, two brothers, Willie (Linda) Robertson of Gulfport, MS, and Artha (Barbara) Robertson of Newport News, VA; four sisters, Barbara Harry, Mary Owens, Yolanda (Burdex) Washington, and Gladys Lampton, all of Bogalusa, LA.; his children, Nichelle Robertson of Atlanta, GA., and Lateshia Robertson of Florida; his seventeen grand Children; several great grand children; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Antioch Baptist Church in Duncan, Oklahoma
Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa are in charge of arrangements.
