Ernest "Sonny" Lavell Lee, Jr.

April 8, 1962 - November 29, 2023

Ernest “Sonny” Lavell Lee, Jr. departed this life on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, after a brief illness. He was born in Bogalusa, LA, on April 8, 1962. He attended culinary school in Baton Rouge which led to a career offshore as a galley steward. He lived in Hammond most of his life.

Sonny was smart, persistent, fun-loving, and a loyal friend. He always had a joke for his nieces and nephews and laughed with them harder than anyone. He loved his animals and had several dogs throughout the years. He also enjoyed classic rock, especially Pink Floyd.

Sonny is survived by sisters, Cindy Lee Crawford, Caroline Lee Simmons (Rusty), Paula Lee Threeton, and Laura Lee Griffiths (Glen); brother, Michael Lee; special aunt, Nashua Lee Contranchis; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Sonny was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Jenkins Lee Rester; father, Ernest Lavelle Lee, Sr.; and his grandparents, Howard and Frances Lee and James and Agnes Jenkins.

Sonny will be buried next to his mother in the Palestine Baptist Church Cemetery on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, in a private graveside service with Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
