A 13-year-old Madisonville-area girl was arrested Friday (December 8, 2023) on a misdemeanor menacing charge after she told another classmate she was going to “shoot up” her junior high school.
Deputies with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office became aware of the incident after the other student informed a teacher at the school.
The girl was issued a summons for L.R.S. 40:1B Menacing and was released on a custodial agreement to appear in court.
“We have made it very clear that threats like this will be taken seriously,” St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Randy Smith said. “We will continue to work with our schools and investigate any and all threats made at our schools or to the students and faculty who attend them.”
