Obituary

Lillie Fay Thomas Breland

June 28, 1935 - November 20, 2023

Lillie Fay Thomas Breland, age 88 and a resident of Pine, passed away Monday afternoon November 20, 2023 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was a longtime active member of Pine Missionary Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years and also served in Vacation Bible School each summer. Fay was retired after a career in the cafeteria at Pine School. She loved meeting the countless young people every year and she made sure that they always had enough to eat. She liked to take care of her cows, barnyard animals and chickens, even selling yard eggs to her neighbors and friends. Fay made a nice garden every year and canned vegetables to share with her family. She also had a pea-sheller that folks in the community would come by to use, allowing her to visit with all those she met. Fay was an excellent cook, especially the chicken’n dumplins, dressing and rice and gravy that her family loved. She adored her grandchildren and young great-grandchildren and always cherished the time spent with her beloved family.
