Dr. Vernon Causey

November 21, 1952 - October 29, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our wonderful brother, uncle and educator Dr. Vernon Causey.

Vernon Causey was born on November 21, 1952 to the late Willie J and Rubie Dean Causey in Franklinton, LA. After graduating from high school Dr. Causey went on to study education at Southern University where he received his Bachelors of Education. He received a Doctorate in Education from Washington State University. He was the first person in the Causey family to receive a bachelors, masters, and doctorate degree. He inspired others in the family to reach their full potential through higher education.

He worked as an educator for over 20 years in Seattle, Washington. He retired from teaching in 2013. He was an avid reader. He loved expanding his knowledge of literature, fiction, and nonfiction novels. His favorite quote was “My brain loves learning!” In the family group chat Vernon would have different vocabulary terms for the family so they all could gain an understanding of new words. He really loved learning daily! He also loved gardening and planting flowers. He made sure his parents' graves were beautiful for every season and holiday.
