Ava Elaine Magee Handley

May 10, 1941 - September 29, 2023

Ava Elaine Magee Handley, age 82, passed away peacefully early Friday morning September 29, 2023 at Passages Hospice in New Orleans. She was a native of Washington Parish and a longtime resident of Avondale, LA. Elaine was very creative in everything she did and worked as a cake decorator for several bakeries and businesses through the years. She enjoyed doing interior design and flower gardening. Elaine always loved tending to the large stand of beautiful flowers she had at her home.

Survived by: Husband of 63 years: Alvin “Eddie” Handley of Avondale; 2 Sons and a Daughter in law: Edward Handley of Pittsburgh, PA, Brandon and Melinda Handley of Lucedale, MS; Grandchildren: Brandon Handley, Jr., Ella Handley; Sister: Eva Cousins of Covington; 2 Brothers and a Sister in law: Roy and Myrtle Magee of the Oak Grove Community, Ray Magee of Avondale; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members

She was preceded in death by her parents Howard Magee and Odessa Williams Magee, brother in law Donald Cousins, nephews and her brothers in law and sisters in law.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home (1109 Bene Street, Franklinton) on Tuesday October 3rd from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Tuesday with Rev. Derek Dantin and Rev. Russell Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Jones Cemetery.
