Roger Dale Varnado

May 30, 1953 - October 11, 2023

Roger Dale Varnado, age 70 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away early Wednesday morning October 11, 2023 at Lakeview Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was a longtime tanker truck driver, for DSI and DFA, hauling chemicals and milk cross-country and later on driving more local routes for dairy farms throughout the area. He also worked as a jailer for the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office for three years. Roger served his community and country for many years as a member of the Louisiana Army-National Guard, rising to the rank of Sergeant before retiring from service. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, where he attended the Faithwalkers Sunday School class. Earlier in life, Roger enjoyed deer, rabbit and bird hunting. He was always an excellent marksman and loved shooting sports.

Survived by: Sister in law: Shelia Varnado of Hammond; 2 Nephews and Nieces: Troy and Lisa Varnado of Franklinton, Nicholas and Jamie Varnado of Hammond; Great-niece and great-nephews: Shuntale and Justin Fanguy, Seth Boone, Nate Varnado; Also numerous cousins and other extended family members

He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie Varnado and Dorothy Jenkins Varnado and a brother Larry Varnado.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Saturday October 14th from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Saturday with Rev. Dustin Pierce officiating. Burial will follow in the Seal Cemetery on Sanders Road.
