Marilynn Hooper Williams

July 28, 1932 - October 25, 2023

Marilynn Hooper Williams, age 91 and a resident of the Enon Community, passed away peacefully at her home Tuesday morning October 25, 2023 at her home. Marilyn was a native of Winnsboro, Louisiana. She was an English teacher at Enon School for many years, mentoring countless students from first grade all the way until high school. Marilyn was an active member of Enon Baptist Church and loved attending her Women’s Sunday School class. She enjoyed reading historical novels and doing cross-stitch. Marilyn and her husband planted gardens each year and she liked to can the vegetables for her family. She enjoyed going camping with her friends and family and she loved cooking delicious meals at home every night. Later in life she loved going out to eat with her family. Marilyn was always a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

Survived by: 3 Daughters and Sons in law: Francine and Michael King of Prairieville, LA, Cindy and Jimmy Pace, Jeannie and Randy Tate all of Enon; 2 Sons and Daughters in law: Michael and Laurie Williams, Alan and Julie Williams all of Enon; 10 Grandchildren and Spouses: Christina and Joshua Rowley, Tiffany King and Chris Mace, Ashley and Jason Burch, Adam and Megan Pace, Mary and Sean Strahan, Jake and Denelle Tate, Miranda and Jake Blackwell, Cole Williams and Harlie Knight, Siera Williams and fiancé Bradley Wesley, Oran Williams; 13 Great-grandchildren: Emilia Rowley, Liam Rowley, Dillon Pace, Bradley Burch, Noah Burch, Silas Pace, Maggie Rose Pace, Kylan Montelaro, Sarah Strahan, Matthew Strahan, River Blackwell, Beau Blackwell, Lana Grace Blackwell; Sister and Brother in law: Mary Frances and Emmitt Richardson of Winnsboro; Brothers and Sisters in law: Randy and Sharon Shirley of Winnsboro, LA, David and JoEllen Shirley of Mangham, LA; Sister in law: Jerry Slayter of Pineville, LA; Also numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and many dear friends

She was preceded in death by her daughter Melinda Sue Williams, her husband of 64 years Zeke Williams, mother and step-father Jamie Dora Taylor Shirley and Howard Shirley, father Oran Hooper, brother in law Joe Slayter, brother in law and sister in law Robert Earl and Mary Sue Williams and other family members.

Visitation will be at Enon Baptist Church (14049 Hwy. 16, Franklinton) on Saturday October 28th from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the church at 1:00 pm Saturday with Rev. Chris Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to her caregiver Angie Fornea, who had given Marilyn the nickname “Lady Bug” and was considered a special member of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations to the Enon Baptist Church Youth Fund, at the address above.

Honorary Pallbearers are the members of her beloved Sunday School class at Enon Church.
