Tropical Disturbances Today



Disturbance 1. Post-Tropical Ophelia is no threat to ou area but continues to pose a risk of coastal flooding and heavy rain from Washington D.C. To New York City today. 

Disturbance 2. Tropical Storm Philippe is no threat to our area as it continues westward at 9 MPH with maximum sustained winds of 45 MPH. A continued westward motion is expected over the next few days, with a turn towards the west-northwest and northwest around the middle of the week. There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.

Disturbance 3. Eastern Tropical Atlantic:: A small area of low pressure with disorganized shower activity has formed several hundred miles south of the Cabo Verde Islands.  Environmental conditions are forecast to be conducive for gradual development, and a tropical depression could form around midweek while the system moves westward to west-northwestward across the central tropical Atlantic.  Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent and formation chance through 7 days...medium...40 percent.
