St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s detectives are investigating following an apparent medical-related death of 48 year-old Cathy Lange-Sanchez, an inmate from the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center.
Shortly before midnight Monday (September 25, 2023), Cathy Lange-Sanchez suffered an obvious medical seizure while in the female holding cell at the jail. Life saving measures were taken by jail personnel and she was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office was called to the hospital and took custody of the deceased for autopsy.
Lange-Sanchez was arrested by State Police on Sunday (September 24, 2023) and was booked for Driving While Intoxicated and other traffic offenses.
