Shirley Elizabeth Jones Rushing

April 27, 1940 - September 13, 2023

Shirley Elizabeth Jones Rushing, age 83 and of Tylertown, MS, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Billdora Senior Care in Tylertown, MS. She was born Saturday, April 27, 1940 in Franklinton, Louisiana.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023 from 5:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home in 412 Beulah Ave., Tylertown, Mississippi. Visitation will also be held Saturday, September 16, 2023 from 1:30 PM until funeral service at 3:00 PM, Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Tylertown Cemetery II. Bro. Rickey Myers, Bro. Mickey Myers, and P. J. Walters will officiate.  Hartman Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 

Mrs. Shirley was a member of New Bethal Primitive Baptist Church. She was the former owner and proudly ran the Rushing Shoe Shop in Tylertown , MS for 51 years. She loved spending time with family and friends talking about all the important events going on in their lives. Mrs. Shirley formed a special relationship with the staff of Billdora Senior Care where she was given the title “The Queen of Billdora”.All will cherish the conversations they shared over the years.  

She was preceded in death by her husband Willliam "Bill" Rushing; infant son Michael Rushing; daughter Millie Rushing; father Willie Jones; mother Margie Ratliff Jones; brothers Bill Jones, Bobby Jones, Gerald Jones and Emerson Jones.

Survivors include her daughter Connie Jenkins (Robert); granddaughter Misty Jones (Joshua); step grandchildren Robert Jenkins, Jr. (Tiffany), Jeffrey Jenkins (Ginger), Rebecca Quave (Erin), and Chad Jenkins; numerous great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family. 

Pallbearers will be Donnie Rushing, Ronnie Wheless, Todd Upchurch, Robert Jenkins, Jr., Jeffery Jenkins, and Dan Rushing.
