Shirley Ann Carlton

September 27, 1939 - September 8, 2023

Shirley Ann Tynes Carlton, age 83, passed away on September 8, 2023, at Slidell Memorial Hospital in Slidell, LA. Shirley was an LPN for well over 20 years, including the old Charity Hospital and LSU Medical Center both here in Bogalusa. She was an animal lover and enjoyed yard work and tending to her plants. Of all the pleasures of life, she enjoyed time with all her grandchildren the most. Shirley was also a member of Ridge Memorial Church in Slidell, LA.

She is survived by three sons: James William Carlton, Jr., Terry Lynn Carlton, and Robin “Rob” Alan Carlton; one daughter: Kimberly “Kim” Ann Holley; 7 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years: Mr. James William Carlton, Sr.; her parents: Perry and Ida Tynes; two brothers: Alberty Tynes and Dencel Tynes; and two sisters: Earline Kafferly and Ramona Quave.

Brown-McGehee Funeral Home was entrusted with final arrangements. On Friday, September 15, 2023, a visitation will be held at Ridge Memorial Baptist Church in Slidell, LA starting at 4PM until 6PM. Mrs. Carlton’s service will take place on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 10AM at the church with Bro. Paul Dabdoub officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Tynes Cemetery in Stateline.
