The Friday (September 29, 2023) shooting of 36 year-old Rasheed Moss of Bogalusa is being investigated by the Louisiana State Police – Bureau of Investigations. Shortly before 4:00 PM on Friday, the Bogalusa Police Department requested assistance from the LSP to investigate the shooting incident that occurred near Sullivan Drive and St. Louis Street in Bogalusa.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a BPD Officer was dispatched to a suspicious person call near Sullivan Drive and St. Louis Street. When the BPD officer approached the suspicious person, later identified as Moss, he attempted to flee from the officer on foot. During the foot pursuit, Moss suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. After shooting himself, Moss was apprehended and transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. No officers were injured during the incident.
LSP is the lead investigating agency into this shooting incident and the incident scene was processed by LSP Detectives. This is an active investigation and further information will be released when it becomes available.
