Republican Party of Washington Parish Candidate Forum

The upstairs courtroom in the Washington Parish Courthouse in Franklinton was packed Tuesday (August 29, 2023) evening as candidates for various offices appeared before the Executive Committee of the Republican Party of Washington Parish. Of course, not all candidates for public office were present but candidates appearing (or represented) included those running for Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Treasurer, 22nd JDC Judge Division A, 22nd JDC Judge Division B, Sheriff, State Senate, State Representative, Parish President, and Parish Council (District 2).

Candidates spoke to those in the audience and to the Committee and answered questions posed by the moderator, Charles Hughes. Following an Executive Session, the Committee announced endorsements. (See the second video below for the Committee's endorsements)

The Committee endorsed Jeff Landry (Governor), Billy Nungesser (Lt. Governor), Liz Murrill (Attorney General), Nancy Landry (Secretary of State), Scott McKnight (Treasurer), Alan Black (Judge, Div. A), Tara Zeller (Judge, Div. B), Randy Seal (Sheriff), Beth Mizell (Senate), John Wyble (Representative), Ryan Seal (Parish President), and Shawn Rice (Parish Council, District 2).
