Mary Diebold Distefano
October 18, 1942 - August 26, 2023
Mary Diebold Distefano, a resident of Bogalusa, LA, passed away at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Franklinton, LA on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at the age of 80. In earlier years, she was greatly involved in Explorer Post 156, Northwest Athletic Association, and Bogalusa Soccer Association. Mary also loved spending her time at the Bogalusa Senior Center.
Mary is survived by her sons, Matt (Amy) Distefano of Pine, LA, and Michael (Rhonda) Distefano, Jr. of Bogalusa, LA; five grandchildren, Emily Carpenter, Natalee Kenny, Kayla (Austin) Thomas, Blake Distefano, and Shaun Distefano; four great grandchildren, Ryan Thomas, Asher Thomas, Annistyn Thomas, and Rylan Distefano; brother, Jimmy Diebold; and a niece, Jessica Diebold Vega. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Distefano, Sr.; a son, Mark Distefano; her parents, Ben and Pearl Diebold; and a brother, Julius Buttons.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 4:30 P.M. at Ponemah Cemetery with Rev. Kelly Penton officiating the service.
