Abron Magee

March 15, 1948 - August 16, 2023

Abron Magee was the third child, born on March 15, 1948, to Thomas Ward and Erma Dean Magee. He departed this life on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.

A 1966 graduate of Washington Parish High School, Abron was united in holy matrimony to Edna Martin on August 14, 1980.

A very active member of the Winan United Methodist Church, Abron served on the Trustee Board and United Methodist Men Organization.  His work ethic in and around Winan will be solely missed.

After 42 years Magee retired from Temple Inland of Bogalusa, Louisiana.

Abron was a compassionate husband, father, brother, godfather and friend to so many.  He was an all-around good guy with a humbled heart, loving spirit and great sense of humor.  A jack-of-all trades and a master of serving others were true values of Abron.  He will be truly missed but comfort comes in knowing that his memory will live on in our hearts forever.

Abron’s memories will live on in his wife of 43 years, Edna Magee, two sons, Dion K (Wendell Murray) Magee and Adrian Dominic (Aimee) Magee, Siblings, Richard (Ola) Magee of Franklinton, Louisiana, Andre Magee of Houston, Texas, Erma Delores (Frank) Fortenberry of Hammond, Louisiana, Pansy Magee of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Eva Taylor of Franklinton, Louisiana.  He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Donald Ray Martin, Sr., five sisters-in-law, Sarah Lee Nichols, Frances Anders, Gloria Hart, Alice Faye Magee and Pricilla (Latif) Martin; four grandchildren, Kavon, Kingston, Ashanti and Amaya Magee, two step grandsons, Jaspen and Jimmie Robinson, step great- grandchildren, Kaden Robinson, Kason Toni Kelson and Jaslyn Robinson.  His loving godchildren, Thomas N. Magee, Kevin Hart, Hope Gatlin, Sandra Anthony, Jessie Martin, Keyon Bickham and Katasha August-Robinson.

Abron was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Ward and Erma Dean Magee, beloved step- daughter, Toni Burton Robinson and brother, Thomas Arthur Magee.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023 from 3:00PM – 6:00PM at the funeral home.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 9:00AM at Winan United Methodist Church with Rev. Fredrick Sweetwyne ~ Pastor Officiating. Interment will be at Winan Cemetery. 

Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Franklinton are in charge of arrangements.
